1) Purpose of the Policy

The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines for La Maggiò Costruzioni srl in order to ensure compliance with applicable health and safety laws and regulations.

The protection of people's health, safety and well-being are fundamental values ​​of the company in the conduct and development of its activities.

We are committed to collaborating and encouraging our business partners to uphold the principles of this Policy and to adopt similar policies within their companies.

The long-term objective is to aim at canceling, as far as reasonably possible, the number of accidents at work and their impact on the working environment, leveraging technological investments, new active policies for the human factor and training. and information for workers.

 

2) Areas of application

This policy applies as a minimum set of rules to La Maggiò Costruzioni srl. The company must adopt more stringent rules and procedures, as needed and in accordance with local laws and regulations.

In carrying out its management and coordination activities, La Maggiò respects the autonomy of each employee, worker or supplier, managing and controlling the activity as a whole, according to the legitimate business interests, taking into account the confidentiality requirements and applicable laws.

 

3) Our approach to Health and Safety

We base our business activities on compliance with the values ​​set out in our Code of Ethics, in the belief that corporate conduct cannot disregard ethics and the continuous improvement of aspects related to health and safety at work and well-being. We are committed to maintaining the highest possible ethical standards and complying with all applicable laws in the countries in which we operate.

4) General principles

As a general rule, La Maggiò Costruzioni aims to provide and maintain a healthy and safe working environment and to minimize the risks for employees, contractors, visitors and other subjects who may be influenced by the company's activities, while satisfying the expectations of consumers and customers on the safety and high quality of products.

The company has set up specific bodies to ensure the correct and adequate performance of activities, aimed at eliminating or minimizing risks, and to ensure the correct flow of information between employer and worker on risks on the job.

The commitment to provide a safe and healthy working environment supports the following health and safety principles.

4.1) Compliance with regulations and best practices

The company La Maggiò Costruzioni guarantees full compliance with applicable national and local laws, regulations and codes of best practice in the field of health and safety at work.

The company is required to establish and review occupational health and safety programs in accordance with local legislation and other international health and safety benchmarks applicable to our business.

La Maggiò implements health and safety measures in accordance with Legislative Decree 81/2008 and the ISO 45001 standard. The company must conduct a health and safety risk assessment in accordance with applicable local regulations.

The health and safety policy of La Maggiò Costruzioni is also inspired by "Safety and health in shipbuilding and repair" and "Safety and health in construction" issued by the ILO - International Labor Organization.

4.2) Risk assessment

La Maggiò Costruzioni undertakes to carry out an analysis on the risks relating to health and safety, as well as to prepare procedures for the management and mitigation of the risks associated with accidents at work, in its production plant and in all shipyards and construction sites in which it is involved the work of its staff.

The company must conduct a health and safety risk assessment in accordance with applicable local regulations.

The risk assessment is carried out by the head of the company's prevention and protection service with the support of dedicated internal functions: according to current legislation, inspections and consultations are carried out with the involvement of employees and / or their Representatives for the Safety, in order to identify risks, carry out the necessary assessments and propose any mitigation measures to prevent future accidents.

The same methodology applies in case of accidents at work, depending on the severity of the event. All of these procedures are contained in the Risk Assessment Document, required by law.

4.3) Process safety
La Maggiò's comprehensive approach to process safety provides the framework for the planning, construction and safe operation of the production plant, as well as for the protection of people and the environment. We have developed a plan that considers the fundamental aspects of safety and health protection - from design to commissioning - and provides for specific protection measures.

To maintain the highest level of safety in the production plant throughout its life cycle, the company periodically reviews the implementation of the prevention and protection plan in all facilities, in relation to the risk potential, the timely execution of required security and any consequent security measures to be taken. La Maggiò updates its plant safety plan in line with changing technologies, as needed, and continues to improve process safety by investigating every single incident in detail, analyzing its root causes and using the results to determine preventive measures. adequate.

Our company ensures that its personnel and contractors working on construction sites receive adequate and sufficient training from the safety officer or construction site supervisor. La Maggiò provides all the necessary collaboration to the other companies operating on its construction sites in terms of workers' health and safety.

The company develops specific systems, practices and procedures to prevent accidents and, if they occur, to manage them responsibly and carefully investigate the causes with the aim of introducing measures to prevent their recurrence.

In compliance with legal obligations, the competent doctors must be appointed as part of the company's health and safety management practices and procedures. They must collaborate in the risk assessment and guarantee the confidentiality of information that may emerge from periodic visits with employees, in full compliance with the legislation protecting privacy.

The medical examinations conducted by the competent doctor are structured on the basis of a specific health protocol calibrated on the various tasks, a fundamental aspect for the elimination of risks. Health and safety training is a key element. In addition, all appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided (e.g. gloves, protective goggles, safety shoes, ear defenders and specific PPE for the construction site, such as harnesses for work at height) and signs are posted indicating the dangers and reminding the behaviors to adopt when using certain machinery that could easily cause injuries.

The company is responsible for appointing those responsible for monitoring risks relating to safety and hygiene in the workplace.

In the case of procurement contracts, the Company undertakes to put in place protection and prevention measures in order to protect workers from the risks associated with the various types of activities, including interference risks.

4.4) Emergency response
La Maggiò Costruzioni rigorously manages accidents and critical situations. In the event of an accident, emergency response plans and crisis management mechanisms will be activated locally, depending on the extent of the accident.

The company believes that skilled professionals, advanced technical equipment and effective, science-based emergency response plans are key to improving emergency response capabilities.

La Maggiò therefore undertakes to implement fire risk prevention measures, using the equipment necessary to protect the health and safety of workers. Training courses, evacuation tests and checks on the effectiveness and efficiency of the fire-fighting devices are provided.

The company undertakes to adopt measures aimed at protecting the safety and health of workers and mitigating the risks of exposure to explosive atmospheres, or mixtures in the air of flammable substances in the state of gas, vapors, mists and / or airborne dust.

4.5) Occupational health and safety
La Maggiò Costruzioni rigorously manages accidents and critical situations. In the event of an accident, emergency response plans and crisis management mechanisms will be activated locally, depending on the situation

The safety of our employees, contractors, the neighborhood and the public is a top priority. For this reason, the company sets goals for occupational safety and regularly monitors progress towards these goals with a series of comprehensive preventive measures.

Every single action of the company is carried out bearing in mind the health and safety of all workers, whether they are employees or subcontractors. Personal well-being is at the center of every company dynamic, in the awareness that safety is everyone's right and everyone's duty and that it cannot be achieved without dialogue and collaboration.

Our global occupational health standards are specified through internal communication on health promotion measures at our factories and construction sites. La Maggiò, in fact, is also committed to ensuring compliance with current legislation on health and safety in the workplace in any case in which workers operate within mobile construction sites.

La Maggiò Costruzioni measures health protection services, using indices, in order to monitor recognized occupational diseases, preparation for medical emergencies, first aid, preventive medicine and health promotion.

 

To prevent accidents at work, La Maggiò Costruzioni promotes:

- risk-aware behaviors and safe work practices for each individual through accident analysis and regular exchange of experience-based knowledge;

- identification of occupational health and safety risks and commitment to control and mitigate these risks in order to achieve continuous improvement in our health and safety performance;

- employee responsibility for their own safety and actions, providing staff with appropriate training on health and safety issues and making employees aware of their rights and responsibilities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures;

- verifies, at each modification of production programs and / or organizational methods, that the new working methods are carried out safely;

- reliable reporting on health and safety on events such as accidents, near-misses, corrective actions, etc. in order to measure performance and reduce risks;

- sharing health and safety knowledge and good practices across the group.

 

This document was discussed, approved and signed by the Board of Directors of the company held on 21/11/2021 and a copy of this document was issued and illustrated to each employee of the company for inspection and approval. Given the absence of comments, this Policy is therefore intended to be signed by the entire company.
